Under the patronage of the Director of the University of Algiers 1, Professor Dr. Fares Makhtari, the National House of Artificial Intelligence organized a scientific event titled “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Regional Planning” on October 1st, 2024. The event was opened by Professor Dr. Kawther Al-Kurd, who is responsible for managing the National House of Artificial Intelligence, on behalf of the university director. She welcomed the attendees, including professors and students from various universities, as well as members of the incubator, the judging committee, and representatives of participating institutions.
The institutions represented at this event included:
– A representative from the Center for Technology and Innovation Support (CATI) – Head of the Biological Resources Management Department at the National Center for Biological Resources Development – A representative from the National Employment Agency – Head of a department at the Algiers Metro Company
After the welcome, Dr. Shenqi Karim, an expert in regional planning and supervisor of the event, gave a presentation on the importance of geography in mitigating risks before they occur and the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing these efforts. The representatives of the invited institutions also delivered welcome speeches, introduced their institutions, and confirmed their support for emerging entrepreneurs.
The event included a video presentation prepared by the animation committee at the National House of Artificial Intelligence, explaining the theme of the event. Dr. Shenqi Karim and Dr. Ghannam Kamal presented lectures on the topic, followed by a training session on the QGIS program, which specializes in organizing geographic information, while the judging committee evaluated the top three emerging projects in the incubator.
Two competitions were organized for the attending students, where they answered a series of questions via a QR code displayed on the seats. The top three students in each competition were awarded prizes.
The scientific event concluded with the honoring of the lecturers and representatives from the participating institutions, followed by a group photo with all attendees.
